Semax peptide Details
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide developed in Russia in the 1980s from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4–10), modified to resist rapid enzymatic degradation. It has no hormonal activity itself; instead, research has focused on its nootropic and neuroprotective properties, particularly its influence on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression, dopaminergic and serotonergic signaling, and cerebral blood flow. Published studies — largely from Russian and Eastern European research institutions, with a growing body of Western preclinical interest — have examined Semax in models of ischemic stroke recovery, cognitive performance under stress, attention and focus, and neuroinflammation.
